How do I create my first invoice?

Sign up free, hit 'Create Invoice', fill in your client and line items, send or download as PDF. Takes about 94 seconds — we timed it. Yoofi made me optimize the flow until it was under two minutes or he wouldn't ship it.

Oh this is my favourite part. Add your logo, pick your brand colors and make it yours. Your clients should feel like the invoice came from you, not some random tool. First impressions matter, even on a PDF.

Not yet, but you can duplicate an existing invoice and tweak the details before sending. Recurring invoices are on our roadmap — we know it'll save you serious time, and we're working on getting it right.

Each business gets its own branding, clients, and dashboard. Switch between them in two clicks. We missed this in early releases, but talking to users showed us most freelancers juggle multiple ventures. So we built it.

Absolutely. Invite whoever you need, your accountant, your assistant, your business partner. Everyone gets custom permissions so your accountant sees the numbers but can't accidentally redesign your invoice. Ask me how I know.

Is my data safe?

I'll be real with you, I once accidentally deleted our test database during development. Traumatic experience. Since then, we've built serious safeguards. Your data is encrypted, backed up, and stored securely. I learned that lesson so you never have to.

Are you guys funded?

Nope. Zero outside funding. We've been bootstrapping this from day one, nights, weekends, early mornings, random working hours. Every feature you see was built with our own time and our own money. It keeps us honest. We can't afford to build stuff nobody uses.

How long have you been building Beeterty?

Actively building since early 2024, but the idea started February 2023 on a late-night 8-hour call. We'd just hit a frustrating wall with a previous project, and Farid said we could do better. The spark? We'd all lost money by forgetting to include withholding tax on invoices — clients deducted it and paid less than expected. That's when we agreed: build tools to help businesses manage money properly.

It's just three of you? How do you build all this?

Honestly? Accountability and no ego. Yoofi handles product and design, I handle engineering, Nii handles ops and engineering. We've been communicating at least once every week for the past 4 years, check-ins, evening work sessions, and we ship often. Small team, but nothing slips through the cracks.

Do you have any technical background or did you learn as you went?

Farid studied computer science and has been coding for years. I studied computer engineering and picked up design and product through obsessive trial and error. Nii studied computer science too, came from ops and engineering. We're not faking it, but we're definitely still learning every day.

What's been the hardest part of building Beeterty?

Not quitting. Seriously. There are weeks where it gets really stressful, funding the product from earnings of our day jobs, family life, users' expectations, and the burning desire to build quality software from our part of the world to help businesses like yours grow.

Are you making any money yet?

Not yet — we're pre-revenue by design. The subscription model and paid tiers are built and ready to flip on. But we're proving product-market fit first. We'd rather monetize something people already depend on than charge for something they're still testing.

About 32 month-on-month active users, 100+ invoices a month, over USD 70,000+ invoiced — mostly freelancers and small businesses in Ghana and 4 other African countries. Every user is someone we've talked to and built features for.

What's your retention like? Do people stick around?

People who send their first invoice almost always come back. The drop-off is mostly frequency — some users genuinely don't have gigs every month. Once they use the product, they stick. The gap we're closing now is helping freelancers build more consistency.

Who's your target market exactly?

Freelancers, solopreneurs, and small businesses, especially in Africa, who want to look professional but don't have time to wrestle with spreadsheets or expensive software. People sending 1 to 50 invoices a month. That's our sweet spot.

Those tools are powerful but they're built for markets that aren't ours. That's something everyone says, but we're building specifically for how businesses work in Africa. Mobile-first, simple, fast, no accounting degree required. We're not trying to be everything. We're trying to be the best at invoicing and getting paid.

Do you plan to raise funding eventually?

Revenue first. We're open to the right partner — someone who gets what we're building and why it matters. But we won't chase funding for the sake of it. Priority is revenue, product, users, and proving this works.
